Dates set for Bridge Farm 2018 excavation

The 2018 excavations at the Bridge Farm Romano-British settlement will run from 4th June for 6 weeks ending on 13th July. We trust the earlier season will not be a problem to our regular volunteers. It has also been decided make Sunday a rest day so the dig will run from Monday to Saturday, 9-5 (9.30 on Saturdays).

Trench 6 has been put back below the soil and is now just a level area in the field of wheat that covers  the site, albeit currently under 100mm of snow. But a new trench location has been chosen and the 20 by 45 metre rectangle of Trench 7 will be located over the central crossroads of the settlement and whilst this means a bit more road to clean and record it also opens up some interesting features in the corners of the crossroads.

We look forward to seeing you all back at Bridge Farm this summer for another exciting season. Dig fees reamin as last year: £25 up to 7 days, £40 up to 14 days and £60 for the season or if camping £50 per week to include digging. For more details or to book your place contact
